Take an affirmation break. Talking to a good friend is a good way to build up courage. A friend can remind you that you are a wonderful creation of God. Affirmation is not ego stroking, however. Ego stroking keeps the focus on the things that feed your ego: what you look like, how brilliant you are, and so on. Affirmation keeps the focus on what’s possible, what God has done, how god has gifted you, and what you can accomplish with God’s help. An ego stroke can give you a temporary “high” that can end if you’re having a bad hair day. A little bit of a affirmation, however, can go a long way.
